John Fred Madden was born to Margueritte (Or Margaret, according to other sources) Madden and Richard Madden on February 6, 1920. He was born in Mount Olive, but later moved to Detroit, Michigan. His mother was born 1898 and lived with her parents, Ernest and Pearl Griffith, and at the age of the age of thirty-two she was a bookkeeper for Oil Co. She was married by the age of nineteen and dropped out of high school. She later entered college for two years.
He had a younger brother, Jack Madden, who was three years younger than he was and was born in Detroit. He lived from March 20th of 1923 to September 30th of 2001. He went on to enroll in the draft as well. Jack enrolled in the draft on June 30th of 1942, he lived in Hartford, Connecticut.[3] He worked for a company called “United Tool and Die,” an aerospace company that still exists today. His job was a US Merchant Marine. John’s father, Richard, was born in 1888. He had lived on a farm and fought in WW1 as part of the 141st Field Artillery. He did not complete school. He roomed with his friend in 1920, in which time he lived in Michigan and worked as a machine operator at an auto factory. At the time of John’s death, he was in a veteran’s facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He divorced from Margueritte by 1940. John moved to Georgia after being in college for three years and became a machinist. He enrolled in the military during his employment as a machinist on March 25 of 1942, from Toccoa, Georgia. |
